Your Covid Testing Choices
In-Clinic Covid Tests
Covid tests will be taken by a trained health advisor at our Dorking clinic. Your rapid antigen tests results will be emailed within 1 hour. PCR results can be provided by email either same day by midnight, or next-day by 6pm/
Click, Collect & Drop Self-Swab Covid Tests
Collect your Covid tests from our clinic in Dorking, Surrey. Take a self-collection sample, register your test online and return the swab before 11am for a same day result, or after 11am for a next day result (by 6pm).
Video Supervised Self-Swab Covid Tests
We will deliver your Covid tests to a UK address by DPD courier, or you can collect them in person from our Surrey clinic. You should book your video appointment within 0-2 days of returning to the UK. Then, securely login for your supervised video Covid test with our trained health advisor and your tests results will be emailed within 1-2 hours.
Self-Swab Covid Tests
We will deliver your Covid tests to a UK address by DPD courier, or you can collect them in person from our Surrey clinic. Take your self-swab test using the instructions provided with your test kit within 0-2 days of returning to the UK. Then register your personal information online and upload a photo of your test result, passport and booking reference number to our online portal. Your tests results will be emailed within 3 hours.

If you have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days:
- under an approved vaccination program in the UK, Europe, or US
- with a full course of the Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna or Janssen vaccines from a relevant public health body in Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Dominica, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea or Taiwan – mixing between two-dose vaccines (Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna) in this list is also recognised.
You must:
- book and pay for a Day 2 COVID test which should be taken after you arrive in England
- complete your passenger locator form – any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in England
- take a COVID test on or before day 2 after you arrive in England
You must follow these Covid test rules if you:
- do not qualify under the fully vaccinated rules
- are partially vaccinated
- are not vaccinated
Before you travel to England you must:
- take a pre-departure COVID-19 test in the 2 days before you travel to England
- book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 tests which should be taken after your arrive in England
- complete your passenger locator form – any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in England
After you arrive in England you must:
- quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days
- take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8
You may be able to end quarantine early if you pay for a private COVID-19 test through the Test to Release scheme.
Taking your Covid tests
- You must take a COVID test on or before day 2 of your quarantine period. This first test is designed to help identify any potentially harmful variants of COVID-19 at the earliest opportunity. Your day of arrival in England will be treated as day zero.
If your Covid test is positive
- If you get a positive result from your day 2 lateral flow Covid test a free PCR test will be sent to your home address by the UK Government and a member of our team will contact you to confirm these details.
- Your test result and personal details will be passed to the Department of Health and Social Care. A representative of NHS ‘Test and Trace’ will also contact you to assess the risk of infection to other citizens.

Dorking’s mainline rail station is served by Southern Rail to London and Great Western Railway to Guildford and Reading. The clinic is a short walk from the rail station.
How is the Covid test taken?
A Covid swab test requires you to insert a thin, flexible swab with a cotton tip into your mouth and nose in order to sample the presence of coronavirus. The swab is rotated several times in both before being withdrawn and it is then sealed in a tube to be sent to our laboratory for analysis. This can be uncomfortable and this discomfort can last for up to 24 hours.
If you prefer to have help with your swab test, both in-clinic and supervised video appointments are available. The Medwyn Covid Team also have swabs that are suitable for children.
