Is there a minimum age for taking a PCR test?
All adults and children aged 5 and over will need to take a PCR test on Day 2 and Day 8 during a 10 day quarantine. This includes the Day 5 Test-to-Release if you intend to purchase this also.
How is a PCR test taken?
A PCR test involves inserting a thin, flexible swab stick with a cotton tip into your mouth and nose in order to sample the presence of Coronavirus. The swab is rotated several times in both before being withdrawn and it is then sealed in a tube to be sent to a lab for analysis. This can be somewhat uncomfortable and varying levels of discomfort may exist for up to 24 hours.
In all cases our trained clinicians will talk through the process and any concerns you have.
The Medwyn Covid Team are also equipped with swabs suitable for children.
