Covid-19 Day 2 & 8 UK Arrival Testing Packages
20 Year Established
Day 2 and 8 quarantine for international travel arrivals - green and amber list countries
What you must do when you arrive in England from abroad depends on where you have been in the 10 days before you arrive. The UK government issued guidance on 7 May 2021 which tells you what you must do if you have been in those countries or territories.
UK, US and EU passengers from amber list countries will be allowed to enter the UK without having to self-isolate from 2 August as long as they are fully vaccinated (at least 14 days since final dose of vaccine) in their country.
Green list countries and territories
Before you travel to England from a green list country you must:
On arrival in England you must:
- take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 after you arrive.
You do not need to quarantine unless the test result is positive.
You must self-isolate if NHS Test & Trace informs you that you travelled to England with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Amber list countries and territories
If you have been in an amber country or territory in the 10 days before you arrive in England you must:
- complete a passenger locator form
- take a COVID-19 test
- book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 travel tests – to be taken after arrival in England. If you are fully vaccinated in the UK, US or EU you are required to pay for a day 2 test only.
On arrival in England you must:
- quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days, unless you are fully vaccinated.
- take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2. If you are not fully vaccinated in the UK, US or EU you must also test on or after day 8.
You may be able to end quarantine early if you pay for a private COVID-19 test through the ‘Test to Release’ scheme.
Testing in quarantine
You will need to take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 of your quarantine period. This first test is designed to help identify any potentially harmful variants of COVID-19 at the earliest opportunity.
Your day of arrival in England will be treated as day zero. The day 2 test will be sent to your quarantine address on, or before day 2. We will dispatch this by DPD Courier service.
When you have taken your sample it should be returned in the pre-paid security packaging to our partner lab using Royal Mail tracked 24 hour delivery. These costs are included in your package. Please keep a record of your Royal Mail Tracking ID number so you can check when the test has been received at the lab. Test results are usually available within 24 hours of receipt. Test samples posted after last collection on Saturday may not be received at the laboratory until Tuesday.
If you get a positive result from your day 2 test, you must quarantine for 10 days beginning the day after the test was taken (this means until day 13). Your household will also need to quarantine until day 13.
If you get a positive result from your day 2 test, you do not need to take a test on day 8 if you have travelled from an amber list country.
If you’re planning to use the Test to Release scheme after travelling from an amber list country, you must still take a test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8. Even if you get a negative result from your Test to Release and are released from self-isolation, you still need to take a test on or after day 8 to check that you do not have COVID-19.
Before you book a day 5 Test to Release home delivery kit please check whether day 5 falls on a Saturday or Sunday, as this will delay results being released to you sooner than day 7 or 8. Clinic appointments are unaffected as a courier service directly from our clinic to the laboratory is included in the cost. If you wish to come to our Dorking Clinic for your Day 5 test please book this separately rather than part of the quarantine package.
